Sound is a form of energy produced when an object moves or vibrates. As any energy form, it is never lost but can be transformed into other forms of energy. Mantric prayer is the science of shifting from one vibration, or frequency, to another. The entire universe is held together by sound moving at different rates and in different media. The word "mantra" is derived from the Sanskrit words "manas" or "mind" and "trai" meaning to "protect" or to "free from." Therefore, the word mantra means "to free from the mind." Mantra is, at its core, a tool used by the mind which eventually frees one from the ego and the mind.
